Overview

Neurodivergent students, such as those with Learning Disabilities (LD) and/or Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), are attending post-secondary education at higher rates than ever. Yet, they are often unprepared for the demands they face in college or university. Equal access to education is an important issue in terms of equity, diversity, and inclusion.

GEARS (Gearing up for Education, Achieving Real-world Success) is an educational game aimed at supporting the transition to post-secondary education for students with LD/ADHD. Through a self-paced, choose-your-own-advantage style online video game that was developed with accessibility design principles, we aim to create a resource that better supports the needs of students with LD/ADHD and increases their success in their pursuits of higher education and future endeavours.
